What are the odds?

August 17, 2004

What are the odds of running into a person you haven’t seen in 12 years not once, but twice in the same evening?

I worked a consulting job back in 1992 for about four months. When the job was done, I moved on, and did not keep in contact with any one I had met there. The other night, as my family and I munched on cheese curds at Culver’s, a vaguely familiar-looking person approached me. It turned out that it was my supervisor from that job from so long ago. We chatted a bit, and caught up a bit, and then went our seperate ways. We had some errands to do, so we stopped at a couple of nearby stores. After that, we went to Walmart for our last stop of the evening. As we shopped, we ran into the same guy again. More slightly awkward small talk ensued, and then we departed company again. Before he was out of earshot, I jokingly told him to quite following me. I haven’t seen him since.

Weird, huh? I wonder what the odds were for that…
