Then and now.

October 20, 2004

I just got an email in my inbox: today’s copy of The Federal Patriot’s daily message. In it contained a quote from Neal Boortz:

“We did have a completely different class of people in 1776. When this country was formed you couldn’t find 10 people on the continent who thought that it was the responsibility of the federal government to provide them with a job or health care. Know this…transport today’s average American back to 1776 and the Revolutionary War would never have happened.” –Neal Boortz

Then I popped over to Newsmax (yeah, yeah…) and saw this quote from Jimmy Carter:

NewsMax.com: Inside Cover Story: “Well, one parallel is that the Revolutionary War, more than any other war up until recently, has been the most bloody war we’ve fought. I think another parallel is that in some ways the Revolutionary War could have been avoided. It was an unnecessary war. “

I guess Neal’s on to something…

Alan Keys visits Marengo

October 12, 2004

WTVO.com – Rockford, IL: Keyes Continues Grassroots Campaign: “Marengo, Illinois- A little more than three weeks before the November election, the race continues for Illinois’ U.S. Senate seat.

The Republican candidate entered the race late and is working to gain support in rural communities around the state. Alan Keyes spent the day in Marengo.

Following McHenry County’s historic Settlers Day parade, Alan Keyes attended a barbecue and rally at Locust School.

Keyes says, it’s important to campaign at the grassroots level, in communities like Marengo. ‘We’re trying to reach every part of the state but especially places like Marengo where these people with a combination of common sense and a real sense of decency and moral values which create a strong support base for my campaign.’

There may not be enough voters in Marengo to secure a win in November’s election. But Alan Keyes believes there are enough to make it a campaign stop. “
